This is a new course aimed at students with an appropriate
first degree or equivalent qualification who wish to develop
their knowledge and skills in specialist areas of building
services including sustainability low-energy buildings, advanced
lighting and acoustic design, computer, modeling of building
performance。
The use of natural ventilation, novel building facades and
services plant, along with the use of computational fluid
dynamics to model their performance, are becoming increasingly
important aspects, and Engineers possessing these skills are
highly sought after. By the end of the course, students should
understand the issues involved in designing building services
for low energy consumption and minimal environmental impact,
and be able to make informed design decisions.
A wide choice of elective topics is available to enable students
to tailor their studies to the particular subjects which interest
them, or which match their employment requirements. In addition
to the requirements of the taught modules, a dissertation
must be submitted, usually on a specialist subject of interest
to the student.
